Assistant Federal Programs Coordinator
I was born and raised in Charleston, Arkansas and graduated from there with the class of 1987. That same fall, I started at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas where I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Education. Several years later, I completed the Masters in Education degree program through the University of Arkansas. Finally, I took online classes through Arkansas State University and completed my building admin license.
I have spent my entire educational career at Mansfield Schools. I began my career teaching Title 1 Math, which I taught for 11 years. Then, I moved on to First Grade, which I taught for 12 years. I was the elementary principal for 9 years before I moved into my current position. I’m going to miss the elementary, but I am excited to begin my new position as assistant Federal Programs Coordinator!
Prior to working at Mansfield, I worked for one year as a substitute teacher and one and a half years as a paraprofessional at Tilles Elementary in the Pre-K Special Education class. These experiences were life changing because, even though I had gone to school with the idea of teaching high school math, I realized I wanted to work at the elementary level.
My babies (aka: my neice and nephews)—(left to right) Zane, Trevor, Kalen, and Danyel I love them with all my heart!
I love spending time with my family, shopping, and cooking (I don’t like having to clean up afterwards!).
