Year One Data Collection One

Data Collection Year One, Window One

Data Collection Period: January 12th – January 16th, 2015

GPRA 1: 126/306 students (41%) met GPRA Performance Measure 1

With permission, the Mansfield School District used sampling to collect data from students who will be served by the PEP grant.  Of 334 students randomly selected for measurement during the first sampling period, 2 were homebound, and 306 participated fully.  The remaining 26 students had significant absences that did not allow complete data collection.  Students wore EKHO One pedometers to collect data on daily physical activity.  Students in grades K-4 wore a pedometer for 4 days and reported the number of steps taken each day.  Students in grades 5-12 wore a pedometer for 7 days and reported the number of steps taken each day.  Additionally, 5th-12th grade students completed a 3 day physical activity recall on Wednesday of the collection period.  Students who had more than 9100 steps each day were documented as having at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day.  Students in grades 5-12 were also determined to have met the measure if they reported at least 60 minutes of moderate, hard or very hard physical activity for each of the three days of the 3 day PAR.  For the first data collection, 41% of students were determined to have met the standard of 60 minutes per day of physical activity.

GPRA 2: 90/330 students (27%) met GPRA Performance Measure 2

With permission, the Mansfield School District used sampling to collect data from students who will be served by the PEP grant.  The District collected data from fitness testing based on the Presidential Youth Fitness Test.  Data was collected on the following for each selected student: Height, weight, curl-ups with cadence, push-ups with cadence, sit and reach, pull-ups, flex arm hang and the mile run (distance adjusted as recommended for younger students).  This data was compared with the standards of the fitness gram according to the age and gender of the student.  For the first collection period of year one, 27% of students met the standard of healthy fitness zone.

GPRA 3: 50/299 students (17%) met GPRA Performance Measure 3

Students in grades K-4 completed questions from the SPAN survey regarding fruit and vegetable consumption.  Students in grades 5-12 completed questions from the YRBS survey regarding fruit and vegetable consumption.  During the baseline data collection period, 299 surveys were collected.  Of those students surveyed, only 50 students reported adequate levels of fruit and vegetable consumption to meet the standard of this GPRA measure.
