In May 2014, the Mansfield School District was funded by the US Department of Education for a Carol M. White Physical Education Program Grant. The grant performance period is 05/01/14 through 04/30/17.
The project is titled: Mansfield School District: Improving the Physical Health of Students Through Focused Curricular and Programmatic Strategies in Physical Education, Health Education and Nutrition Education.
There are three goals for this project:
1- Increase the percentage of students engaging in 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous daily physical activity.
2- Increase the percentage of students meeting the standard of a healthy fitness zone as established by the assessment for the Presidential Youth Fitness Program in at least five of the six fitness areas.
3- Increase the percentage of students who consume fruit two or more times per day and vegetables three or more times per day.
