What's New At Mansfield Middle School

Posted Date: 08/30/2019

Mansfield Middle School is continuing to grow their new age and 21st-century skills with the move to one to one technology.  The district was able to purchase 150 new Chromebooks as well as some slightly used Chromebooks.  The Middle School has been purchasing 30 or more Chromebooks the past years working toward a one to one technology based learning.  The effort is to give as much individual to students and give instant feedback to students about their learning.

There are been recent research studies to increase the access to technology to students in order to promote student success.  The laptop will not automatically increase student achievement, but is a big step toward being able to differentiate instruction for students.  Recent studies have shown schools with one to one technology have made a significant growth in student test scores in all ACT Aspire tested areas.  The increase of technology allows increased use of students using technology, more student centered activities, greater student engagement, and project-based instruction as well.  The research is based on laptop devices and no other devices.

Still the key to student achievement is the high quality instructor in the classroom.  Outside of the home environment and parents, teachers are still the most important device or tool to help students become more successful.  Students will continue to receive a variety of other instructional methods, but each student will have access to technology in every classroom.   Students will still experience experiments, lectures, class discussions, individual work, collaborative assignments, as well as technology enhanced instruction.

We are excited about the use of technology in order to help our students compete for 21st century jobs as they practice 21st century skills.  Several of our classes have been working one to one in years past, but we’re glad that each class has the capabilities or access to technology in order to promote student success.  We are fortunate for the support of our community, school board, technology coordinator, as well as superintendent in supporting the growth in the technology and infrastructure to promote our students.

Thanks Mansfield Middle School
